A record 2,150 King Salmon (Chinook salmon) returned to spawn in Putah Creek this fall. Timely water releases, habitat creation and regional collaboration among various public and private organizations are being credited with the successful run.

For more on this, see attached article.

The increasing numbers of Salmon in Putah Creek is awesome! The efforts by the multiple organizations and individual volunteers is so important in this effort. Hope we can recruit a good number of Flycasters to participate in the Putah Creek Cleanup and Restoration sponsored by the Northern CA Council of Fly Fishers International and CDFW on January 10th, 2026. Register for the event on the NCCFFI Website (www.nccffi.org). We will meet in San jose and car pool.

And be on the lookout for a rush of spawning Chinook in our own backyard with the series of storms coming our way. Los Gatos Creek at the Campbell overpass is a popular viewing spot as they attempt to traverse the leveling structure.
